Policy toolkit for climate change and urbanism in Argentina

Argentina is a country with more than 90% urban population. Cities are strategic centers for economic development, but also scenarios of high resource consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and social inequalities. Climate change has increased these challenges and the associated risks. Simultaneously, it offers new opportunities for innovation for the transition to efficient, resilient and inclusive cities.

CICLA assisted Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in the survey of instruments with an impact on climate change mitigation and adaptation policies and measures, particularly with respect to energy efficiency, housing labeling, circular economy, sustainable mobility, territorial planning and management, popular neighborhoods and sustainable construction. This input allows us to advance in the definition of strategies and reform proposals for better performance and impact of public policies on climate change and urban planning, within a framework of sustainable development.
