Diego Moreno

Degree in Biological Sciences (University of Buenos Aires). Specialist in the management and conservation of natural resources and environmental policies. He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of environment and sustainable development, from government and civil society.

Consultant in environmental policy, natural resources, and strategic planning for sustainable development. He was Secretary of Environmental Policy in Natural Resources of Argentina (2015-2019) being responsible for the implementation of national policies in Biodiversity, Forests, Soils, Territorial Planning, Environmental Information and Statistics, and Aquatic Ecosystems.

He was Executive Director of Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina, associated with WWF in Argentina (2008-2015).
He led projects for the creation of public and private protected areas and the sustainable use of natural resources across the whole Argentine territory.

Carlos Gentile

Agricultural engineer (University of Buenos Aires). Postgraduate degree in Public Policy and Democracy (LSE – London School of Economics, United Kingdom). He has 30 years of experience in the legislative and executive power in Argentina, the private sector and civil society.
He is an international consultant in Climate Change and Sustainable Development.
He was Secretary of Climate Change and Sustainable Development of Argentina (2015-2019). He created and coordinated the National Cabinet of Climate Change, was Chair of the G20 Climate Sustainability Working Group under the Argentine Presidency and he was also Chair of the Global Board of the 10-Year Framework of Programs on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP).
He created and coordinated the “Escuelas Verdes” Environmental Education Program at the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires and directed the Renewable Energy area of the Fundación Pensar.
He was part of the Sustainability Leader Program of Defra (UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs).
He was a consultant to the Argentine Foundation of Animal Welfare.
He was Head of the Agricultural and Livestock Commission and advisor to many Commissions at the Argentina House of Representatives for more than 20 years and he is currently an advisor to the Argentine Senate.

Maria Celeste Piñera

BA in Political Sciences. BA in International Relations. MA Environmental Management. International consultant specialized in sustainable development.

She was National Director of Environmental Assessment and National Director of Sustainable Development in the Ministry of Environment of Argentina, in charge of Environmental Education, Sustainable Production and Consumption, Innovation for Sustainable Development and Environmental Assessment policies at the national level. She also served as General Coordinator of the “Escuelas Verdes” Environmental Education Program of the Ministry of Education of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and has worked as a consultant in renewable energy and environmental education for the private and non-governmental sectors.

Andrea Georgina Frassetto

Degree in Geography (University of Buenos Aires). She has 20 years of experience in the environmental area and sustainable development, particularly in environmental and social assessment and management of projects for a variety of sectors, both from public administration (executive branch), as well as the private sector and academia.
She was Director of Environmental Impact and Strategic Assessment of the Government Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina (2016-2019). She has been teaching the “Ecology and Biogeography” subject from the Geography course of studies at the University of Buenos Aires since 2006. She has worked at consultancies for different public agencies, several private local and foreign companies, and International Financial Institutions (World Bank, IADB). She participated in the preparation of the Manual for Environmental Assessment and Management of Road Works (MEGA II) for application at the National Roads Authority of Argentina (2005-2007), in the amendments to the Rules for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in areas under the jurisdiction of the Argentine National Parks Administration (2010-2012), as well as in the preparation of several good practice guides in EIA and Environmental Strategic Assessment (EAE) published between 2018 and 2019 by the Government Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina.

Javier García Espil

Lawyer graduated with an honorary diploma from the University of Buenos Aires. Master in Sustainable Environmental Management from the University of Salamanca. Postgraduate in Governance, Political Management and Public Management from the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) and the University of San Andrés. 

Specialist in law and public policies. He is a consultant in environmental governance and sustainable development with experience in the Legislative Branch, Executive Branch, control agencies and civil society organizations. He is also an advisor on energy and environment in the Honorable Congress of the Nation and a university teacher. 

Former National Director of Environmental Management of Water and Aquatic Ecosystems (2018-2019) and National Director of Biodiversity and Water Resources (2016-2018) of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina, where he was in charge of national policies related to conservation and sustainable use of wetlands, glaciers, water basins, coastal and maritime spaces and biodiversity. He was a member of the Federal Fisheries Council, Administrative Authority of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Focal Point of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar), Director of the Ecosystem Assessment and Monitoring Network (REM.AQUA) and responsible for the Glacier Atlas of Argentina. Previously, he served in the National Ombudsman’s Office addressing various environmental and human rights conflicts, and was a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Foundation (FARN) staff.

Juan Pedro Cano

Lawyer (University of Buenos Aires). Specialized in environmental management in developing countries (Technische Universität Dresden). Currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Policy Planning and Evaluation (National University of San Martín).
He has experience in environment law, management and policy. He is a consultant for international agencies such as the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). He was the National Director of Forests, Territorial Planning and Soils of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina where he, along others, coordinated the creation and implementation of the National Plan for the Restoration of Native Forests in Argentina which involved the restoration of more than 35,000 hectares of forests and 4 million trees planted. There he also coordinated the development of Argentina’s National Action Plan for Forests and Climate Change. Before that, he was an environmental specialist for the World Bank Office for Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay for projects on integrated management and environmental sanitation of water basins, integrated management of urban solid waste and sustainable industrial development. He was also a consultant to civil society organizations such as Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (FARN) and Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina (WWF Argentina).
